Open Positions

Responsibilities

  • -Execute existing data analysis pipelines on 4.29 billion aptamer sequence data sets including meta-analysis of oligonucleotide secondary structures on in-house Linux servers.
  • -Build customized applications for specific project needs.
  • -Collaborate with our French subsidiary, NeoNeuro, to develop and improve analytical pipelines.  
  • -Maintain pipeline versions, container specifications for all data analyzed.
  • -Maintain clear file management and coordination across multiple simultaneous projects.
  • -Provide input into experimental design and analysis validation.
  • -Thoroughly test and document workflows.
  • -Develop custom analysis tools and improve existing tools where appropriate
  • -Provide output in summaries suitable for sharing externally.

Qualifications

  • -Master’s degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science or equivalent experience
  • -Experience designing and implementing NGS and -omics data processing pipelines.
  • -Knowledge of common bioinformatics file types and analysis tools
  • -Strong background in Python and Linux.
  • -Extensive experience of shell scripting and the command-line
  • -Familiarity with scikit-learn or tensor-flow packages (ML) in python
  • -Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • -A background in biology/genetics with proven critical thinking and research skills
  • -Eligible to work in Canada.

   

Assets

  • -Experience with workflow frameworks/languages (e.g. WDL, CWL, Nextflow, Snakemake)
  • -Experience with Docker/Singularity/containerization
  • -Experience with cloud computing (particularly GCP, AWS, and Azure) or HPC environments
  • -Experience critically interpreting scientific literature.
  • -Familiarity and proficiency generating effective data visualizations.
  • -Experience working with databases
  • -Data visualisation in R using tidyverse and ggplot2 packages would be a plus.
